Mechanical Designer

Position Summary: the general role for The Mechanical Designer is mechanical detail designing. The Mechanical Designer is responsible for the design and development of the mechanical hardware for Pipecare equipment used for In Line Inspection (ILI), including design concept models, drawings, specifications and related documents and procedures (such as Assembly manuals, User manuals etc.).
Key Responsibilities & Authorities
- Mechanical detail design, design analysis and design drafting through all the product life cycle, including concept, detailed design, production, design validation and sustaining support.
- Conducts design analysis and optimization of mechanical components including considerations of design-for-manufacturability and cost.
- Selects components and materials based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- Utilizes Computer Aided Engineering (CAD) design and analysis software in the design and development (such as 3D modeling, FEM analysis etc.).
- Develops mechanical design documentation including drawings, specifications, etc.
- Develop assembly manuals, procedures and instructions and may train operations and maintenance personnel.
- Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
- Handles contacts with material distributors, subcontractors and manufacturers in order to support procurement and create a high-quality product.
- Keeps up-to-date with development in technologies and regulations.
- Works in cooperation with the Production department, assisting in production startup and optimization work, resolving issues.
- Contribute to design reviews of own or other designs. Preparation of test specifications and support of test activities and product validation.
- Support to commercialization of new products or services including attendance at field trials and operations staff technical support.
- Participates in the equipment failure investigations, root course analysis, and corrective and preventive action development.
- Carries out any other related Jobs as and when required by the HOD.
Skills/Experience required.
- Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Mechanical/Mechatronics.
- Min 3-year experience in related Mechanical Design field with 3D software (SOLIDWORK, ANSYS and AutoCAD software).
- Design Calculations, Validation and optimization according to process engineering.
- Knowledge in detail designing and preparation of full set of drawings, Bill of Material in compliance with ISO system, i.e. ISO 286, ISO 4287, etc.
- Knowledge of engineering data management and engineering change process with revision control, using automated corporate tools, PDM etc.
- Knowledge in design of ILI Tools, Pipeline installations, Pressure spools design & developments with analysis at SolidWorks and ANSYS are an additional advantage.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 quality system management standard and practices.
- Exposure to Design-manufacturing environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility: Must be able to walk and climb to perform duties, including maneuvering within a refinery or plant environment and accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
- Communication: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to communicate effectively.
- Focus and Multitasking: Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively.
- Safety Equipment: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection, if/where needed in manufacturing environments.
- Personal Mobility and Reflexes: Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary.
